Top 10 Worst Lead Characters

July 22nd, 2008

Lead characters, you are usually supposed to connect with them and often like them more than any other character on the show.
But yeah, sometimes that is not the case. These are to me, the most despiseable main characters.

10: Light Yagami (Death Note)

The worst thing about one of the few Animes that I fell in love with was the main character. Light was just an utterly unlikeable character that you constantly hope to get caught and killed. Fortunately, the little bastard did get what he deserves in the end.

09: Bill Henrickson (Big Love)

The thing that makes him almost as bad as his dad is that Bill actually thinks he is a good man, while he’s not much better than Roman or Alby. He might not be a murderer, but even though he doesn’t admit it, the only thing he cares about is what’s best for himself. I despise him.

08: Nate Fisher (Six Feet Under)

Nate is one of those people who blames everyone for his problems except himself. He’s ungrateful, a user and a cheater. I think he got what he deserved.

07: Buffy Summers (Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

Another one of those Nate-people, only even worse. She was cold, annoying and one of the worst things about the show. And SMG has the most annoying voice ever.

06: Phoebe Halliwell (Charmed)

Although Prue was the main character of the first Three Seasons, Phoebe became the lead after Prue died. I didn’t care much for Prue to begin with, but Phoebe was so much worse. She had like a billion boyfriends, and all of them were just as airheaded and uninteresting as this ho was.

05: Meredith Grey (Grey’s Anatomy)

One of the reasons why I stopped watching that stupid show. If I had to hear that bitch complain one more time, I would’ve stabbed myself in the ear.

04: Susan Mayer (Desperate Housewives)

In a show where almost every character is annoying, she is by far the most despisable of them all. Clumsy, stupid and with the most painful to sit through storylines.

03: Dawson Leery (Dawson’s Creek)

Not only was the character painful, but so was the actor. His face, my god his face! I want to punch it. Teen shows usually have unbearable lead characters, but Dawson’s the worst of all.

02: Sean McNamara (Nip/Tuck)

He started as one of my favorites. The guy who always thought with his heart. But as the show went on, he became more unlikeable and the writers turned him into this disgusting man who should just jump off a building already. He became the second worst thing of the horrid fifth season (nothing could beat Eden though).

01: Jack Shephard (Lost)

The worst thing about one of my all time favorite shows is… Jackass. My god, his speeches. His dreadful winks. His monkey facial expressions. The way he always wants everything to go his way. I’m just thankful that ‘Lost’ has so many characters that it doesn’t constantly center around this crying asshole. I would have stopped watching a long time ago otherwise.

Top 10 Best Series Finales

July 10th, 2008

New top 10, there are many good series finales but also many that weren’t satisfying enough. these are IMO the best series finales I have seen.

10: Foreverwood (Everwood)

A fab ending to a beautiful series. Perhaps it was ‘too happy’, but this show was always supposed to have a happy ending.

09: Bad Timing (Farscape)

A very sad ending to a great show. I’m glad we did get a Miniseries afterwards because this would have been a very depressing way to end the show otherwise.

08: Objects In Space (Firefly)

Even though this was more like a Season finale instead of a Series finale. It was still perfect and even better than the movie IMO.

07: Sleeping In The Light (Babylon 5)

A tear-jerking, and thought-provoking way to end this great show. Those scenes with Delenn and Sheridan are some of my favorite scenes ever.

06: De Patre Vostro (Rome)

An epic way to end this amazing little show. I definitely shed a couple of tears.

05: Points (Band Of Brothers)

The final episode of the greatest miniseries ever made. The final scene was just perfect.

04: Not Fade Away (Angel)

Wouldn’t wish for it to be any way different. The characters went out fighting, but it wasn’t about the fight, it was about the characters. Beautiful and Epic.

03: Everyone’s Waiting (Six Feet Under)

Many people consider it being the greatest finale of all time. But as much as I love it, it wasn’t even my favorite of the final Season. But it was perfect, and it could not had ended any better. Everything came full-cricle.

02: Beyond Life And Death (Twin Peaks)

Holy crap! That thing was just… damn. It’s a shame the show pretty much ended with the biggest cliff hanger in the history of cliff hangers. But ooohmaaahgooooowd was it amazing, and weird, and artsy.

01: New Canaan (Carnivale)

Holy, crapholy, scamoly. My brain practically melted out of my ears when the screen turned black. NOOOO! I yelled. They can’t end it like that, it will haunt me until the day I die. And I know it will. Let’s hope the miniseries will give us some answers, but in the mean time I’ll continue to worship this little masterpiece.

My Top 5 Gigs/Concerts

July 7th, 2008
1. Chris Cornell. Chris Cornell was THE BEST!! I love him in Soundgarden and Audioslave but not so much solo. I saw Soundgarden live years ago and they were brilliant but I had seen Ausioslave play more recently and had been really disappointed. Because of that, I had low expectations of a Chris Cornell concert. But I was BLOWN AWAY! He played a rock set, then an accoustic and then finished with more rock. He played for about 2.5 hours and it was like I had written the set list myself. He played everything that I wanted to hear. His voice filled the room. He has incredible stage presence. AND he’s hot!! Doesn’t get much better.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow_sHcraACQ

2. The Datsuns. The Datsuns are a New Zealand Band. I’ve been into them for a few years now and was lucky to see them at the Big Day Out a few years ago. They’re young and they’re good. A few months back they did a small gig at one of my favourite Sydney pubs. The Annandale is a great pub to see a band. It’s small and intimate. It probably can’t fit more than 300 people in it. The other great thing about it is that there is this small ledge on the side, next to the stage that I can stand on and see everything!! The ledge is pole position at the Annandale. If you can get on it. And I usually do.

3. Rage Against the Machine (At the Big Day Out.) I love RATM. I don’t play their music as often as some of my other favourite bands though. But seeing them live was incredible. There songs are like anthems. The crowd were on fire. There was about 40 000 people there. We were fairly close to the front but I couldn’t see a thing cos I’m only 163 cm tall(5′4″.) It didn’t matter though, I just jumped up and down as often a I could and my husband would give me a boost every now and then. There’s something about singing in unison with 40 000 people that gives me the chills. It’s an awesome feeling.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj8×0tjqjBk (This is the concert I was at.)

4. Powderfinger/Silverchair. Powderfinger and Silverchair are two out of my top 5 favourite bands. So when they were doing a gig together I was definitely going to be there. My husband was away that weekend but another friend of mine was going with a friend of hers so I was going to meet them there. But they were late. At the venue, the dancefloor is split in two to avoid a crowd crush. I was in the queue to be in the front section, waiting for my friends. They opened the doors to let us in. I had a choice to make. I could wait for my friends and end up in the back section or go in alone. So I went in alone. I had the best time anyway. I just started chatting to the people around me (I’m quite friendly ) I was in the second row for Silverchair and right up the front for Powderfinger. Awesome!!

This is the concert I was at. It’s not one of my favourite P/F songs but no joke, whoever took this footage must have been right next to me.

5. Jeff Martin. Jeff Martin used to be in The Tea Party. They are a Canadian band who are more popular in Australia than they are in Canada. They are really unique. Their music is a fusion of rock, middle eastern and Indian music. This tour was accoustic. It was just Jeff and a percussionist. Although I like him better with electric guitars and a full band, this was still a great concert in Sydney’s Metro Theatre which takes about 1000 people and so it’s still quite intimate.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDYIlaaw_yI

Top 10 Vampire Shows

July 2nd, 2008

Ah, with True Blood coming up. I had to blog about my favorite vampire shows.

My choice is very limited unfortunately. Especially because they’re kind of… mediocre. but this is what I could make of it;

10: Moonlight (2007-2008)

For this show to make my list, shows how limited my choice is. I didn’t like it much. But I kept watching because it was about vampires and because it had a sexy cast (sue me). and despite the bad, it had some good moments. Worth watching if you really, really love vamps.

09: Kindred: The Embraced (1996)

An ‘ok’ show that didn’t last very long. Cast wasn’t too bad and the vampire story was also pretty good. but it was forgettable for the most part.

08: Blade: The Series (2006)

Another so-so vampire series. I liked it because of the coooool baddies. It should be enjoyable for the Blade fans (like me), but don’t expect much. However, It was better than I expected.

07: Blood+ (2005)

I recently started watching this series, and so far it’s much better than I expected. And much better than some other (vampire) animees I tried to get into. Worth checking out.

06: Blood Ties (2006-???)

A surprising vampire series, a bit slow, but definitely better than most. Worth the watch even though i’ve only seen Season 1.

05: Forever Knight (1992-1996)

A smart and interesting twist on the vampire myth. Many vampire shows of these days have copied it, and failed. A must.

04: Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1997-2003)

This show was more about the Slayer, than the Vampires. Which is the only thing I hated about it. I loved vampires, which makes me hate Slayers (mebbe except for Faith). But even without the vampires, this show would have still been good.

03: True Blood (2008-???)

I know I have only seen one episode, so it’s fairly early for me to judge. But from what i’ve seen, it might just end up being #1. I love the cast, and the human and vampire aspects of it. I know this will reach the Cult-status. I can feel it.

02: Hellsing/Ultimate OVA (2001-2002/2006)

Best anime evuhz. I truly loved it. it was a very dark and even slightly creepy anime. With the coolest vampire, evuhz. Alucard.

01: Angel (1999-2004)

One of my biggest addictions ever. At first I loved it because it was about a dark and broody vampire trying to find redemption. But as it went on, I started loving it for the storylines, characters, villains, dialog. etc. Epic and criminally underrated tv show.

My Mom’s Top 10 Shows

July 1st, 2008
My mom is too cool. I’ve been whining to her about BSG for months now. She never wanted to watch it because it’s a ’space show’ and she automatically thinks they’re all cheesy. She caught me watching ‘Resistance’ two weeks ago and liked it. So now she finally gave in and watched the Miniseries (1/2, we’ll finish it tomorrow. Fucking long thing X_X) and at the end of it she said ‘it’s better than Lost’ =O

Hah, anyway. She has started watching many other shows before. and I asked her which are the shows she has liked the most.

Here’s mah mommehz top 10. We have similar taste, she even dislikes comedies. More than me.

10: The X-Files (1993-2002)

She watched every episode up to ‘Tithonus’. But then she got a little difficult about it, she didn’t like the amount of MOTW episodes. and she doesn’t like the comedy episodes (not even Bad Blood :x). But eventually, I convinced her to watch the rest of the show, only a little bit out of order. She has seen every single Mytholoy episode except for Season 9 (minus William & The Truth) and some fillers. She thinks the show is great, but has a lot of ’stinky’ episodes (Her most hated episode was hands down ‘Chinga’).
Favorite Character: Fox Mulder
Favorite Episode: Anasazi/Paper Clip

09: Big Love (2006-???)

When I first got her into it, she didn’t like it so much because there was too much sex. But as time went on, it really grew on her. She’s not like ‘omfgz iz luvz tahz sho!’ but she definitely likes it a lot.
Favorite Character: Barbera Henrickson
Favorite Episode: The Ceremony

08: Angel (1999-2004)

Although she did complain about season 1 and 5. She didn’t complain as much as during Buffy, and she liked most of the characters. She definitely grew to love the show as it went on and she kept talking to me about it when she finally finished it.
Favorite Character: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce
Favorite Episode: Sleep Tight/Not Fade Away

07: The Sopranos (1999-2007)

We watched until mid-Season 2 together. I wasn’t really in the mood to rewatch it, but we will watch the rest of it one day. She liked the Mafia Storyline a lot (she’s a fan of the Godfather movies).
Favorite Character: Janice Soprano (son far)
Favorite Episode: I Dream Of Jeannie Cusamano

06: Lost (2004-???)

She complained a little this season because there wasn’t enough character development for her. but she loved the first three seasons a lot. Especially end-Season 3.
Favorite Character: Sayid Jerrah
Favorite Episode: The Man Behind The Curtain/There’s No Place Like Home

05: Freaks & Geeks (1999-2000)

It was a pleasant surprise to see how much she liked this show. She says she could identify with most characters, and she actually laughed =O. Comedies usually just annoy her unless they are realistic like this.
Favorite Character:
Lindsey Weir
Favorite Episode:
The Pilot (we discussed it for like two hours)

04: Everwood (2002-2006)

As much as I love it, I don’t love it as much as her. She has only seen the first two seasons and wants me to show her the rest of the series. She likes Ephram a lot X_X.
Favorite Character:
Andy Brown
Favorite Episode:
Home

03: Dexter (2006-???)

Whoo, she rocks for loving Dexter. It’s her favorite show on tv and she really looks forward to watching it and occasionally asks me when it’s coming back again.
Favorite Character:
Dexter Morgan
Favorite Episode:
Resistance Is Futile

02: Deadwood (2004-2006)

She used to bash it because she thought it was too violent. Somehow, I convinced her to watch it when I got the Dvds and she ended up loving it. She even said a couple of times that it was her favorite show. She liked the intensity and the great actors. She even loved the third Season which i found to be a bit disappointing.
Favorite Character: Seth Bullock/Alma Garret/Sol Star (She really loved most of them)
Favorite Episode:
The Boy The Earth Talks To

01: Six Feet Under (2000-2005)

We both still have it as favorite. It’s kind of like ‘our show’. We recently rewatched the fifth season and she shed a few tears here and there. I love how much my mom got emotionally invested into the storylines and even told me a lot about her life while watching it (like, after watching ‘That’s My Dog’).
Favorite Character: Brenda Chenowith
Favorite Episode:
Everybody’s Waiting

Top 10 Monsters Movies

June 29th, 2008
Ooh, Monster movies. not a lot of great ones tbh. Most bore me to death.

but there are some really good ones. here is my top 10.

I know that there are a lot of Monsters, so I only chose the ‘big ones’.

10: Them! (1954)

Bigass ants? Surprisingly, it worked. For a monster movie anyway.

09: The Blob (1958)

A pretty entertaining popcorn flick. I even liked the remake =O.

08: Godzila (1954)

Ugh, I hated the remake. but the original was a classic. Impressive for the 50’s.

07: King Kong (2005)

A surprisingly great second remake (first remake was shit). Not as powerful as the original, but still very enjoyable.

06: Aliens (1986)

Okay, maybe they’re not as big as the others on the list. but come on, they’re fucking epic. Aliens FTW.

05: Cloverfield (2008)

Woah, I really expected this movie to suck big time. Another movie about annoying teens? but no, it was actually very tensed and full of surprises.

04: King Kong (1933)

One of the best and most famous black and white movies i’ve seen. King Kong is epic.

03: Alien (1979)

First Alien movie. Fucking epic! Best looking creatures ever.

02: Jurassic Park (1993)

Dinosaurs rule more than your mother. /The End/.

01: The Host aka Gwoemul (2006)

Hollywood, take a note. Korea > Hollywood.
The movie was really all about the characters. I fucking loved every one of them.

A Poem.. “Connect”

June 28th, 2008
The fringes of your syllables

slip into the coma of this room

our pulses escalate

as the surroundings can no longer employ what we want

what we need.

I look into you deep

you feel deeply through me

I ask without asking

You Yes without yesing

I touch,

electricity and heat spiraling up your arms

My fingertips feel you

and quake at suggestions

we throw each other

the harness is our eyes locking

as our lips mesh and frolic along the edges

of who we are.

Taste..

Oh fucking God how good it tasted.

Your answers fucked my questions

the novel wrote itself

as we spread along the floor

melting into the carpet

interlocked

by a poisonous vine

I got sick with you

noone wanted a cure.

We fucked for five hours

and made love for one.

I think about you

when lightning crashes against the glass

longing to electrocute me.

I know you taste me

everytime your lips meet another,

failing to connect like we did.
