Obama/Biden ‘08

November 6th, 2008
Good day Peeps.

Congrats to America for choosing the right president.

I believe that Obama won’t only change America, but he might repair it’s mistakes and bring it’s respect back.

Rock on!

Talk about a long time…

October 26th, 2008
since I’ve blogged and then only once.  I’m a baaad Cajun.

Well, currently the hubby is working what the plant calls a “turn-around” which is when they shut certain areas of the plant down to do maintenance..the big sort of projects that they can’t do with the unit running.  At first they planned to do it in October, then when the storms hit most of the areas plants were down so they pushed it back to January, then one day my husband calls and says, “you won’t believe this…” and they had started it already when he showed up for work one day.  So now he’s working 13 hours a day, up from 12, and instead of 2 days on, 2 days off and off every other weekend off (which consists of Friday through Sunday) he’s working every day with only one day off a week.  I have to admit I’ve been going a little nutzo.  It’s just me, the kids, and the animals around the house…well, actually with the kids in school during the week in the daytime it’s just me and the animals.

I’m still working out on the treadmill….a little obsessively…it keeps my mind occupied though.  I just ordered and received the Terminator first season so I’ve been watching that while I’ve been working out.  I had started walking outside in the morning for a while after the storm had passed with my dogs.  They were loving it at first, then they lost interest…I have some strange dogs.  Maybe my walk was too long for them?  Now, they actually duck and hide when I grab the leashes.  They used to jump for joy and run to the door:(.  I might start bringing them on a shorter mid-afternoon walk as the weather cools.  There was also this certain area where this dog kept jumping the fence to charge at me and my dogs.  I was ready to kick him in his freaking face.  I knocked on the owner’s door and told him what he was doing and even though he corrected him he still kept doing it.  My hubby wanted me to get some dog mace or carry a stick but once I started walking without the dogs the didn’t bother with me anymore.  One morning I had the pleasure of seeing his stupid ass get caught in the fence in his attempt to jump over (which I actually hated that I felt that way being the animal lover that I am).  The design of his fence is high in the front while the side slopes down to a shorter height.  This is where he’s able to jump the fence.  It’s a medium sized lab mix mutt.  I love animals but I won’t tolerate one trying to hurt my dogs.  I stand up to him and any other dogs that try to approach, too.  Usually I give them the “get!” or “aat” loudly.  That last one I use to use on my kids when they would get into something they weren’t supposed to be messing with to get their attention.  It works on the kids, dogs and my cats, too, LOL.  My dogs are so good on their walk, too…no barking, pulling, and they walk either beside or behind me giving me the leadership role like they are supposed to…why can’t they give me the same respect in the house??  :insert Rodney Dangerfield comment here:  Oh well.  So I’ve resorted to just walking inside on the treadmill in the morning and also in the afternoon.  I found walking on the concrete was sort of jarring on my body anyway…up and down curves and all….and I don’t walk slowly either.  I feel like the treadmill gives me a more intense, regulated, cushioned work-out than the outside walk did.  Although the benefits to the outside walk are a change of scenery and sun exposure which is good for you.  Amazingly, it really hasn’t rained much since the storms passed…maybe a couple of days with the couple of fronts that have passed through.  We’re in the 50’s right now…which is pretty cool actually for the time of year so we must be below average.  I love the cooler temps though.  It also pretty much means no more storms for the year.  Hurricane season starts in June and I believe runs all the way either through the beginning of November or the end…not sure.

The kids finished their first nine weeks of school already…both made the honor roll.  Also, my daughter, Taylor, participated in a talent contest on Friday.  She read a poem she wrote.  She tied for first place!!  She has amazing talent.  I used to write poetry, too, when I was a teen.  I’m a much better speller though LOL.  I’m extremely proud of them.  Dylan is in the midst of working on a social studies project.  The way they do it at his school is certain parts are due about every week instead of the whole thing being due on one day.  It’s good for us procrastinators. .  His research report is due on Monday.  He’s finished all I need to do is proof it.  So basically that’s about it right now…which almost sounds like a crazy statement after the length of this blog.  I wish I could escape to the beach and listen to the crashing waves and the seagulls flying overhead (as long as they don’t crap on me LOL).  I miss going to Florida…we haven’t been since 2004:(.  Until next time….and who knows when that will be…

Laissez le bon temp roulez,

True Blood 1×01

June 16th, 2008
I just watched it, and I loved it.

It’s like Alan Ball’s other projects. It’s about the characters.
There are a few things I didn’t like
*too much sex (Sex is good unless it gets distracting)
*vampire sex was silly
*the goddamn mind reading.

But the quirky dialog, and extremely entertaining characters completely made up for it.
The cast is also very strong, but I didn’t expect any less (Okay, I was afraid because I barely know ANY of them) but they didn’t only turn out to be eye-candy but also talented.

My first impressions of the main characters:
Anna Paquin … Sookie Stackhouse
Interesting main character. Anna did a good job. I wish she didn’t have to go blonde though. But at least she’s not annoying as Buffy summers.

Stephen Moyer … Bill Compton
To be honest, he’s my least favorite. Tall, dark and handsome. clichéd vampire with no sense of humor. Angel was better.

Ryan Kwanten … Jason Stackhouse
The pretty boy. He’s really the asshole-character but I like him. I see potential.

Sam Trammell … Sam Merlotte
Sookie’s human love interest? I don’t really care for him. I hope there won’t be a Sookie/Bill/Sam triangle X_X.

Brook Kerr … Tara Thornton
The STAR. She cracked me up every time she came on screen. I love angry black bitches.

There were a LOT more characters. My favorite one was the Gay Black Dude. What was his name?
He and Tara would make a great team.
Most of the rest didn’t do much. I like Sookie’s grandma and the hot chick at the bar. Whazername?
The two bad guys didn’t do much for me unfortunately. Especially the female. But they might just turn out cool. We’ll see.

Final verdict: Very strong pilot, I can’t wait to see the missing scenes.

Like said before, i’m very excited. It might just be my new best friend.

Hope Your Day Rocks!

Just wait until you hear what happened to me today >.<

June 11th, 2008
June 11th, 2008. I day that will remain in my mind for the rest of the summer. I day where I learned just how low I can fall, how bad it is to not have Digital Cable and Internet. This is a reality I have never dealt with until today. I learned some things that will change me forever… maybe, and discovered that our cable company, Time Warner, are Nazis. It all started yesterday night a little before 2 AM. The internet was disconnecting yesterday more often than ever. I blamed it on my computer because it is extremely old. Back to yesterday night, my websites and MSN conversations had disconnected from the internet. I was tired and I didn’t want to deal with fixing it, so I went to bed. When I woke I saw the lovely line of six green dots lit up on the cable modem telling me that I was connected to the internet. Everything was fun for about five minutes until I was disconnected again. I unplugged the modem and plugged it back in to see if I would get any response, three lights, not good enough. I waited about fifteen minutes to see if it would connect, it didn’t. I took a shower, and an hour later there was still no response. I called my mom who basically said there was nothing she could do. The cable company is coming to our house the weekend after vacation. That wasn’t good enough for me. The cable company and my mom thought that the problem was in the wires that go under our house. The other option was a faulty modem. I asked my sister to take me to the Time Warner customer service place about ten minutes away and when we got there we found out that the location had moved to the mall which was about half an hour away =\. I tried to forget about the disaster as I hung out with my sister for a while, but when I got back home I was greeted to the same disconnection. Now I guess I should mention that two nights ago there was a small storm and durring that storm our cable box for Digital TV was disconnected. Since the cable that run under our house give “weak signal” the digital box is unable to find a signal that orientates it. Thus I couldn’t watch cable channels in the living room or get on the internet when I got home. I got in touch with my mom who had been on the phone with Time Warner all day. Most people didn’t know how to help her but the last one said that we can take the cable modem and the cable box to the Time Warner location by the mall and trade them in. That way we’ll have new appliances and everything will work. My mom wasn’t going to be able to take me down there for a few hours so I watched dvds and slept some. After unplugging everything we went and traded in our things. When we got home the television didn’t work but the internet gave us this weird message talking about registering new hardware. Thus my mother and I were on the phone with the nicest man from Time Warner. He told us many things. He had an scheduled visit for the cable to come tomorrow to check the tv bu someone randomly canceled that. Apparently many other people had their visits canceled for seemingly no reason. A mystery visit came up on the computer for a day while we’re on vacation. He also saw our visit to rewire the house after we come back. After about two hours on the phone with this man the internet was back up (how I get here). While I was typing this he told us that he thinks the problem is not our computer, the wires under our house, bad luck, or a hellmouth, that it was really the telephone line on our street. He saw activity that proved other people nearby were having the same problem. He changed the the visit for the day while we’re gone to a trip to fix the pole. He said everything should be fixed by the time we get home. That was long V__V

PS - My mom’s friend might give us a her old computer that doesn’t have much on it.

If you think nobody cares if you’re alive, try missing a couple of car payments.

When everything’s coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane.

There are very few problems that cannot be solved by orders ending with ‘or die.’

How to make your own Category

June 1st, 2008
(insert annoyed smiley, already wrote this but something went wrong so here I go again)

Yo, kids. You can write blogs in the ‘All Members’ Category, but I prefer to use that one for news, updates etc.

So, write your own personal blogs in your own one. You can make your own category (I think? :o ).

Just write a new blog, on your right there should be category options. Type in ‘-Your Name’s- Blogs’, add it. and be sure to CHECK it.

Sounds easy, aye?

Have fun kids. I’m getting some sleep now.

EDIT: Okay, so apparently normal users can’t open their own category? But, you can still post a blog and i’ll make sure it ends in your own one.
